This challenge was the most fun I've had in a Daring challenge since I've joined either group. We had some friends over, and all made the sushi as quite the team effort. After making the required dragon roll, spiral roll, and 4 pairs of nigiri, we had fun going a little nutty and getting creative with the wide variety of ingredients I had prepared.
Nigiri: tamago (sweet egg, I used this recipe), tuna, salmon, and red bell pepper, and the spiral roll

Dragon Roll, with tuna, crab, and cucumber inside and avocado with homemade eel sauce (made with this recipe) on top

Cross-section of the spiral roll

Assorted sushi rolls, including salmon/avocado and shrimp tempura topped with tuna

A big thank you to Rose and Audax for being such gracious hosts this month. I love knowing how cheap and easy it is to make one of my favorite indulgences at home any time I want! I especially enjoyed learning how to make rice authentically. Who wants to join me for my next sushi party?

Picking my jar up off the floor... All of your sushi is stunning! I'm so glad that you loved this challenge - looks like you had tons of fun =D.
GORGEOUS!! And delicious, I'm sure!
I love sushi and have attempted to make it at home. I don't have a knife sharp enough to cut the fish thin enough so I'm content going out of it.
But you did awesome. Looks delicious!
WOW!!! They look so good Amy!! Nice job!
Who wants to join you for your next sushi party? - We do! It looks like you had quite the feast. Your spiral roll is really pretty!
Love the shrimp tempura rolls. I'll have to try that. And the avocado with salmon. You did a great job!
Great looking sushi, everything looks so good :)
They are gorgeous. It never occurred to me to use red bell pepper. :)I love the interesting ingredients that pop up on daring cook sushi challenge. I also had a lot of fun making this challenge. Will definitely make it again.
we make sushi in our house too! I wish I'd thought to look up how on line, but when a local grocery store offered $20 sushi making classes last year, the dude and I signed up. I'm glad someone else agrees that it's not as hard as it looks. Have you tried making spicy tuna? I have a fab lazy girl method: drained canned tuna, mayo, siracho, and black sesame seeds. Really easy and quick too!
Your sushi looks absolutely wonderful, I bet it was really delicious! I agree this was the very best challenge so far. Wonderful job!
I was there, it was amazing. I think the tempura roll was my favorite, but it is hard to say... I can't wait for more!

Amy, you did such a great job on this challenge. I also had friends over to make these and making an afternoon of it really made it the most fun challenge to date. I wanted to try and make tomago, but I ran out of time, how did it turn out?
Terrific looking sushi! Great photos too! :-) All your different variations look delicious. Sounds like a great party! Wonderful job!
I'm far from a connoisseur of sushi (not my thing, really), but hopefully that won't diminish the value of the WOW that I let out when I saw your pictures! I've seen sushi, of course, I just don't eat it; and Amy, that is some gorgeous-looking sushi. Well done! I hope it tasted as good as it looked--if you're into sushi, that is. :)
