Over Labor Day, we went up to Port Townsend, WA to spend the weekend with Uncle Michael at his cottage on the water.
PT, of course, is very special to us-- it's where we got engaged, where we mini-mooned after the wedding, and have had lots of birthday fun there (we've been going annually for my birthday in December. Sadly, this year we'll be a little far away.) This trip was especially exciting because it was the first time we've actually been there WITH Michael. It was the perfect relaxing weekend getaway that we all needed. Since we were there with Michael, we got to meet a bunch of his neighbors that we've heard about forever. He invited them over for drinks one evening, and I got to play one of my favorite games-- make appetizers!
I was afraid we'd have waaay too much food, but it all disappeared so quickly. With 8 adults and 3 kids (all 3 or under), I guess I'm not that surprised. I made baked brie (I think this is going to become a staple, it's yummy beyond words. I used raspberry jam this time.), shrimp cocktail (ok I didn't technically MAKE it), bruschetta with tomatoes from our garden that we brought, and hummus with crackers and bread. YUM! Such a fun way to spend an afternoon.
