For the last several Wednesdays (and all of them for the forseeable future), we have had TV night at Eric & Shelby's. The boys watch the Wire, and the girls watch Project Runway. Pretty ideal. Last week was Andy's birthday, so I brought the cheesecake. It was such a hit that I decided to whip something up to bring over there yesterday. Here's what I made...
Wait a minute! No way. I did not bake an 80s cartoon character. Here's what I really made:
That was the only picture I have, sorry. So, Strawberry Shortcakes (HTCE pg. 647). Yummy. They involve making Drop Biscuits (pg. 252), which apparently is the Southern way of making strawberry shortcake. Funny, I thought that I just learned that yesterday and had only ever had it with sponge or pound cake, but then Andy reminded me that I had told him the same thing (about the "Southern way") a long time ago. I don't know where all this intelligence comes from.
By the way, savvy readers, did any of you notice the presence of the "goddamn wire cooling rack"? I've since acquired one. Hypocrite.
I'm not sure yet if I'll continue the Wednesday baking tradition. I have mixed feelings about it. We'll see I guess.
